Ingredients

  • 4 cup all-purpose four
  • ½ cup butter
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/2 cup cold water

Method

Combine flour, baking powder and salt in a large mixing bowl. Rub in butter until it is in pieces no larger than peas.

Add 3 teaspoons water at a time, just enough to bring the dough together with a firm consistency.

On a lightly floured surface, knead well to form smooth dough (about five minutes).

Cover the dough with air tight and set aside for 30 minutes.

Break off pieces of the dough and shape in sized balls.

Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat. When it’s hot enough to fry, put these balls and fry. Make sure to put enough dumplings to avoid being crowded.

Flip dumplings to fry on both sides until golden brown (about 3 minutes per side).

Remove from the pan and drain on paper towels before serving.
