Knowing how to code and manage relational databases and database-driven applications is a valuable skill for any career in tech. Completely updated for 2019, SQL Essential Training is designed to help users understand the most common language for database wrangling, SQL. All the lessons have been recorded in SQLiteStudio, an intuitive and easy-to-install database manager. Instructor Bill Weinman teaches all the major features of SQL: creating tables; defining relationships; manipulating strings, numbers, and dates; using triggers to automate actions; and using subselects and views. He offers a solid working knowledge of the language and shows how to retrieve and manage data efficiently. The final chapter includes a real-world example of building a simple application using SQL.
This course was created by Bill Weinman. We are pleased to offer this training in our library.

- [Instructor] In this lesson I'll show you how to install a test environment to follow along with the exercises on a PC running Windows. In order to follow along with the exercises there's a couple of things you'll need. You'll need a compatible database system. I'm using SQLite. SQLite is a simple compact standards-compatible database management system that's easy to install and cross-platform compatible. The SQLite studio package includes the database along with a management environment. Here's the website for this, and we'll install this later in this lesson. You'll also need a plain text editor. A plain text editor is different than a word processor. A word processor is designed for writing documents, and includes a lot of formatting information along with the text. That formatting information will actually interfere with the SQL code in the example files. So a word processor will not work for this purpose.…
